A Fine Art Photograph of the Iconic Flying Scotsman Locomotive getting ready to Leave Grosmont Station on the North York Moors Railway.
In 2016 the Iconic Flying Scotsman Locomotive returned to the tracks following an expensive £4.2m refit which took a full ten years. The local news was full of reports of his return to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) heritage line for the first of six daily services from Grosmont to Pickering with stops at Goathland, Newtondale and Levisham on route. I’ve never really considered myself a trainspotter but this occasion had a very special feel; so come the weekend I headed out with the crowds and wrestled for position at Grosmont station trying to find a shot amongst the sea of mobile phones held aloft as locomotive 60103 made its appearance. Conveniently the driver waited in the station for a good 10 or 15 minutes so I had a good while to pick out a shot. This straight down the lens portrait spoke to me the loudest and with the funnel belching steam as the Scotsman readied himself for his close-up I knew I had captured something special.
