Well, today was the last official day of holiday, so we decided to head up to Saltburn with the kids for fish and chips at Teesside’s favourite chippy. The Seaview Fish and Chip shop, before heading off for a short walk along Saltburn Cliffs to Skinningrove. At least that was the plan. However it quickly became apparent when we reached the top of the steps to start the walk that it was very windy indeed. My wife was quite concerned that we might be all blown off the cliffs if we carried on. Especially when she spotted me hunkering down to take the shot below. In retrospect I wasn’t actually that close to the edge, but non-the-less a sudden misplaced gust may well have overbalanced me and that would be end of my fledgling photography career. Not to mention the end of me. However danger of death aside, when I saw the interplay between the line of the tide and the line of the cliffs combined with the cotton wool clouds and the shadows they formed on the sand I had to take the picture.
After retreating back to the relative safety of the beach we wandered along the pier and I managed to take a couple of the ‘iconic’ Saltburn pier shots, which I may post to my flickr stream soon. After that we elected to ride back on the cliff lift, which I haven’t actually been on for over 20 years, so that brought back a few memories.
Anyway as always hope you like the pic.
