Cod Beck, in Osmotherley, is a delightful sanctuary for the good folk of nearby Middlesbrough and Stockton-on-Tees. However despite living in Teesside all my life I was completely unaware of its existence until I started researching potential areas of photographic interest and good places to go for a walk (yup, I’ve reached the age where a long walk in fresh country air gets me more excited than the prospect of drinking in the pub all day, or going to a gig and generally ‘avin it large. Unbelievable.).
This shot was taken handheld from the top of the reservoir wall. The conditions weren’t great, but with a bit of boosting in lightroom I think I was able to bring out the moodiness of the view. Those clouds were pretty much as you see them and shortly after taking the photo the heavens opened up. Fortunately I had found cover under the canopy of trees on the left by then but it was a close thing.
As an aside I thought two women out walking their dogs were going to come to blows after one of the dogs insisted on worrying another smaller dog. The owner of the smaller dog was quite upset and actually kicked out at the bigger dog, much to the bigger dog owners dismay. I’d packed my camera away by then due the rain, but that would have made an interesting candid shot!
